Tunes of the Month September 2016

A little late putting this up but these are the tunes I was listening to in September:

Boston Bun- Get Into It- Starts off sounding like classic Trance track Nalin and Kane Beachball before going into a strong vocal house sound:

Altern8- Everybody (2 Bad Mice remix)- Released last year but getting a huge amount of attention this summer an old skl style remix of an Altern8 Classic:

Cadenza- People (DJ Zinc remix)- Zinc brings speed garage and old school jungle sounds to Cadenza’s latest with great effect:

Tunes of the Month- July 2016

  1.  Protoje- Who Knows (Shy FX remix)- It’s festival and carnival season and here is this summer’s obligatory Shy FX tune, catch though.

2. Aphex Twin- Cirklon 3- Best track from Aphex Twin’s new EP Cheetah and the first track of his to get a video in many many years. The video is by a 12 year old Vblogger and YouTube gamer

3. Machinedrum- Angel Speak- Those who enjoyed Machinedrum’s old school jungle style drum and bass vibes may be disappointed. But there is beauty in the direction and sound of this new track

4. Viola Beach- Boys Who Sing- Young British indie-pop band who tragically lost their lives earlier this year, many will be familiar with their story, an album has now been released which pays fitting tribute to the band’s joyous sound and youthful energy.  Coupled with Coldplay’s heart felt tribute at Glastonbury it only feels right to say give this a listen again.

Tunes of the Month- February 2016

Another month has been and gone and here’s some tunes I have been listening to:

  1. Diiv- Under the Sun

Catchy rock track from Diiv’s Is The Is Are album and proof that contray to claims otherwise good rock music is still being made.

2. Skepta ft D Double E and A$AP Nast- Ladies Hit Squad

Latest single from Skeppy, more chilled than other recent efforts but still as electric and also further proof of the ever growing relationship between Boy Better Know and ASAP Mob.

3. Riton- Rinse & Repeat

This has been doing the rounds in the clubs for awhile now but finally getting a release, strong house track from the often Ed Banger associated producer.

4.  Massive Attack- Ritual Spirit EP

The return of Massive Attack and a return to form well worth the wait. Take it There featuring Tricky and Dead Editors featuring Roots Manuva are the strongest tracks but a great EP all round.

5. Zhu- In The Morning

Beautifully arranged house track from the secretive producer behind Grammy nominated track Faded. Championed regularly by Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show.
